Scott #Q3, Facit #P6II, Daka #8II, Wowern #23 [1918 5 øre Pakke-Porto, 1924 Printing II, Light Red Brown, Perforation 11.5] Used with XF centering and huge margins, but with light vertical crease that is mostly only visible from the backside. For reasons not known to me, vertical creases are fairly typical on this printing of the 5 øre stamp. Beautiful example. Otherwise would be $160 for this centering. |

Scott #Q3, Facit #P6II, Daka #8II, Wowern #23 [1918 5 øre Pakke-Porto, 1924 Printing II, Light Red Brown, Perforation 11.5] Used with VF-XF centering and huge, even margins, but with natural vertical crease and generalized vertical banding that is mostly only visible from the backside. Vertical creases and banding are quite typical and "natural" in the paper on this printing of the 5 øre stamp. Wowern listed plate variety "Cg": "Extra curl on tip of left-most wave" from sheet position 25. Beautiful example with light, but completely proper black oval cancellation. Otherwise would be $150 (without consideration of the plate variety) for this centering. |

Scott #Q5 THICK PAPER, Facit #P8II, AFA #8I, Daka #10II, Wowern #20 [1915 15 øre Pakke-Porto (parcel post), 1923 Thick Paper printing] Used with VF centering. Huge, balanced margins and neat, light, correct cancellation: violet crown-over-straight-line "GRØNLANDS STYR(ELSE)". Faint, press-out crease at upper left corner (not mentioned by the certificate and only visible under magnification). Very fresh and attractive. A very scarce stamp missing from most collections; most European-printed albums have a space for this thick-paper version. Accompanied by Wowern 1980 certificate stating [translated] "... used shortly after 1925" [based on the cancel] ... "stamp and cancellation are genuine". Otherwise would be $320! |
