1980 Year Set consisting of 91 stamps and 1 souvenir sheet, Scott #1557//1646. The souvenir sheet included is the scarce Scott #1617. The rare 1980 Year of the Monkey Scott #1586 is NOT included, but is being offered separately. The scarce Scott #1573 souvenir sheet is NOT included because it had a minor ripple in the paper, but it is being offered separately. No booklets or larger sheets are included. All stamps are NH; I have personally examined each stamp to verify that there are no gum blemishes or bends. The centering is all VF or better, though there are a just a couple stamps that might be considered only F-VF+. The perforations are virtually all perfect, however, #1637 ($8 catalog value) does have short perfs; a perfectionist might find just one or two others that he or she does not consider perfect (but the price take all this into account). The overall quality is well above what is usually seen on the market these days (often having been picked over by fussy buyers). This set came untouched, in a sealed envelope, from the estate of the new issue purchaser; it was never handled or put in an album. SPECIAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS. Because of the exceptional, extremely particular, and often difficult (failed transactions) nature of the China stamp market, this item may have special limitations on shipping destination, payment method, terms of sale, etc. The total Scott 2013 value of the stamps present is $1148.70 which is extremely close to actual retail selling prices. A check of a major dealer (who actually has the stamps in stock) price list shows all the retail prices to be the same or higher than Scott value (8 sets were higher, one was lower by 75 cents, the rest were the same). This year set is priced very attractively at just 75% of Scott value. |

PRC China 1996 NH VF Commemorative Stamps in Year Book: Commemorative stamp year book (hardbound, red, in slip case) for 1996. The only text in the books is Chinese and appears to be the issue information. There is a page in the back that illustrates some of the postmarks from that year (perhaps the first day of issue postmarks?), and there is a page for a "commemorative souvenir sheet" (no denomination; not valid for postage, not Scott listed), but there is no such s/s present (I am not sure it ever was). This was originally purchased by a Chinese person in China and appears to have been made for domestic sales; such items are seldom seen outside of China! The total 2013 Scott value of the stamps included in the book is $68.55. For PRC, the Scott value is very close to actual retail selling prices. Though this is probably worth more as the book, it is priced well below the value of the stamps in the book! Shipping cost is additional for this item. |
