Sweden / Åland: An unusual form of Swedish "postal stationery" (listed by Facit under Swedish military postal stationery), a coupon used to obtain stamps for the Swedish soldiers stationed in Åland in 1918 -- only used for Swedish soldiers in Åland. There are two types listed by Facit. This is Type A, used to obtain official mail stamps. (Type B was used to obtain official mail postal stationery envelopes; extremely rare, Facit indicates one example known.) Mint VF in perfect condition. The only time I have been able to obtain any of these was a small group of 6-8 examples that I found in an old dealer stock in Sweden in 1995; I have not seen any before or since. Twenty-five years later I just found the group again, misplaced in our stock. [Includes a photocopy of listing from Facit Catalog.]

Denmark: RC #18: Finland Scott #B233 "Globe Puzzle" Red Cross semi-postal issue with 28 May 1984 FD cancellation AND Åland #7 Flag with 2 September 1984 Red Cross "Per Humanitatem ad Pacem" cancellation. Picture of "Globe Puzzle" as on Finnish stamp. Cards this late in the series are much harder to find.

1995 Saint Olaf. 1995 "St. Olaf" JOINT ISSUE Pack containing the Mint Stamp issues and FDCs of both Faroe and Åland, along with a joint Maximum Card. This was the only source for the joint maximum card. There was only one version of this pack; it was distributed by both countries.

1988 "Discount Package", Facit booklet #H1a [1988 Posten 350: 350th anniversary of Åland postal service]. Though this does not look like a traditional booklet, it is classified as a booklet by Facit. It is a post office printed envelope containing a 10-block of stamps. Sold 1 February - 31 May 1988: Every Åland household received six coupons to purchase the package for 14.00 marks, instead of the 18.00 mark face value. Then on 10 October 1988 to celebrate International Letter Writing Day, the post office gave 3200 more packages to teachers and students (of the 3200, 2747 were this stamp issue and 453 were the 1.80 mk Sailing Ship issue). These packages are quite difficult to obtain and are listed by Facit at SEK 650 = US$100 (though they are seldom offered).
