J33 [1934 20 øre Gray Engraved Postage Due] (VF) tied by FARUM cancellation on 4 February 1943 underpaid business envelope bearing #230 Type II from "KØBENHAVN OMK. 22". The sender accidentally paid the local rate instead of the inland rate, resulting in a due amount (20) of double the shortage (10). A postal carrier notation on the reverse indicates that the recipient (at a bank) refused delivery. The postage due stamp was likely canceled at the time the carrier prepared it for delivery but the amount was not collected from the recipient -- it was returned to sender; I am not sure if the sender became liable for the shortage.
