C9 (VF) on 17 April 1939 VIBORG stamp show cacheted (airplane) cover with special stamp show cancels. Carried on the VIBORG-KØBENHAVN special flight, with red handstamp to the U.S. This is a slightly scarcer (3647 flown) show/flight cover, but it is very scarce to the U.S. The 50 øre stamp was only enough postage to pay the European air rate, thus the airmail label was crossed out and a violet (surely Danish) handstamp added (in French, the UPU language) "Seulement Europa" (only [enough postage for] Europe). This is the first and only example of this supplementary marking that I have seen in 37 years. The handstamp is the star of this show.
