J34 [1934 25 øre Blue Engraved Postage Due] (VF) tied by 15 May 1951 "TRANEBJÆRG / SAMSØ" cancellation on 15 May 1951 UNFRANKED envelope with sender endorsement "Postbesørges ufrankeret" (mailed without postage) from "NORDBY SAMSØ". Adressed to Politikontoret (police station) in Tranebjærg. Though it is not well documented in the literature, mail from citizens to government offices could be sent unfranked. This is the only example of such mail that I can recall having in 38 years. Postal history from the small island of Samsø is avidly collected. Unusual! |
