Danish Christmas Seal Collection 1904-1958 Mint.

Danish Christmas Seal Collection 1904-1958. The complete set of 55 seals (1951-58 consist of one-each singles; the multi-designs started in 1951), from the first issue, all Mint. The 1904 is the WORLDS FIRST CHRISTMAS SEAL. The vast majority are VF. Very fresh and neatly presented on album pages; virtually all appear to have light (peelable) first hinges. I note that the 1904 and 1906 seals lack gum (and the price has been properly adjusted) -- at a modest cost I can upgrade them upon request. Usually such collections have "clunkers" in them, but this collection is very nice! Individual retail totals over $190! This is a great opportunity to get the complete early collection. [233295]

Danish Advertising Pairs Mini Collection: Group of five Used VF / F-VF advertising pairs (Facit/AFA numbers RE 31, 32, 43, 44, and 47). The #47 is the well-known Red Brown -- this pair is the only possible source for the Red Brown stamp which is included in many albums and is quite hard to find. Individual prices total about $70. Veile-Vandel Railway: Set of two 1913 20 øre red and 25 øre blue railway parcel stamps. Wonderful design including a steam locomotive. So few of the railway stamps actually picture trains that this set is a outstanding item. NH Fine/F-VF.

13 Official 1885 Reprint [1864 4 skilling Sword and Scepter] Thick paper, without watermark, issued without gum. Upper left corner margin 4-block. Upper stamps hinged (but issued without gum). The 4 skilling was printed in a different sheet format than the other values and is generally hard to obtain than the others. Singles sell for around $30 each.

FRAMA machine stamp of the first (1990) issue with 00.00 denomination. NH VF. Presumably this was produced by technicians testing / servicing the machine. I have only had two such 00.00 stamps and do not recall seeing any reports of others. Over time such items from other countries have proven to be extremely scarce.

Design of Scott #360, Facit #389, AFA #366 [1956 Jacob Christian Ellehammer; 50th anniversary of first test flight at Lindholm] ORIGINAL ARTWORK believed to be by the stamp designer Viggo Bang: Artist working sketch executed in pencil on acetate, 180 x 164 mm. Composite-design pencil sketching of the outlines and key lines of the airplane; a straight-on view flying; and side view of pilot in position. The outline view is an exact match to the ink outline view also being offered. Believed to be from the collection of the artist (which originally sold at auction in the 1980s), but though from the same collector as other related works, this item is without clear provenance. (The accompanying container is marked that it was lots 449 and 51784 in unnamed auctions; from that perhaps the provenance can be developed.) A unique item of interest to both philatelists and flight historians. Such items are usually only seen once (if that) in a lifetime.

"DANSKE MÆND. 1 / NIELS EBBESØN" design: Carmine, on coarse yellowish paper, imperforate right. An "ILLEGAL" anti-Nazi label issued 1942-1945 by the Danish Communist Party and sold throughout Denmark for 1 kroner. (In 1340 Niels Ebbesøn assassinated a German ruler and drove the Germans from southern Denmark; they returned to defeat the Danes at Skanderborg and kill Ebbesøn, but then left Denmark.) Very scarce; it was 31 years before I first had an example! I believe that this was issued (at least some of the time) gummed, but I have never seen a gummed example. Usually only found in very poor quality. [These labels are listed in "Maerkatpropaganda i Danmark: Antifascistisk and Fascistisk 1930-1945" by Niels Gyrsting and Peter Poulsen.] Mint VF looking, ungummed, with some soaking discoloration.

1938 essay by Christian Blæsbjerg: Large "5" øre numeral of value, two small posthorns, and wavy band containing the text "DANMARK". Seemingly this design proposal was as a replacement for the long-running "wavy-line" series. Though not rare, this essay is seldom offered. Listed by Benfield and Nørdam as #*1938B-E(2a), Red.

Collection of 1998-2001 officially issued "calendar" stamp cards. ("Stamp cards" are officially printed picture post cards that often picture stamps or may have designs related to stamp issues.) Complete set of 48 cards for these four years with the calendar stubs still attached. Attractively mounted with cover corner mounts on Scott pages (punched for 2-post and 3-ring). Some of those cards have designs with some relation to a stamp issue; others are just nice Danish pictures; all are very attractive. These cards seem to be scarce; I have never seen them offered for sale.
