31 Print 3b. Facit #34cc variety. AFA #28.3b variety. [1875 20 øre Bicolor, Perf 14 x 13.5] Used with Fine centering and very light cancellation, but one short perf tooth. OVAL VARIETY "white spot before P" is very clear. Printing 3 is interesting because it is listed as 3a and 3b, with two different colors, thus one would think it would be divided into two different printings. That this is printing 3b is confirmed by a small note in Lasse Nielsen handwriting (I had submitted the stamp to him ca.2010). There is additional information in the AFA Specialized 2016 regarding the frames from plates A and B, but I have not (yet?) found that information presented by Lasse Nielsen. The oval variety is clear and according to the Lasse Nielsen handbook, it can only be Oval Flaw 62 (OF.62). However, the Nielsen handbook does not state the plate position of OF.62 in Printing 3a or 3b -- I am not sure if this is simply because the position was not known or if it is because examples of OF.62 on printing 3b had not been observed. An attractive example of an interesting stamp. |

31 INVERTED WATERMARK, Print 4. Facit #34dvm. AFA #28.4 omv vm. [1875 20 øre Bicolor, Perf 14 x 13.5] Used VF with well-struck and complete #152 numeral cancellation (Skibby). An outstanding example that is fault-free (scarce on this thin paper), excellent centering, and complete numeral cancellation. Inverted watermark examples are seldom seen so nice! |
