136a [1915 80 on 12 surcharge Bicolor, Inverted Frame] NH VF INVERTED FRAME stamp, position #51 in the sheet, as lower left stamp in a VF/F-VF left-margin 4-block. Upper left stamp is lightly hinged, but the other three, including the rare inverted frame are NH! There were only 500 sheets surcharged, thus only 500 Inverted Frame stamps originally existed; I estimate that less than 200 mint examples still exist today -- and probably less than 100 of those are still never hinged -- and probably relatively few of those have VF centering! The 2009 AFA Catalog value for just the NH Inverted Frame single stamp is DKK 5000 = US$1000 [11/09] for normal centering! That figure is really too low for a stamp that is this scarce and especially one in such nice quality. The other three stamps have an individual breakup value of about $170. It has probably been at least 10 years since I was last able to offer a NH example of this rare Inverted Frame stamp. Accompanied by Lasse Nielsen photo certificate. |
