In the WWII era, during the "Winter War" and the "Continuation War", many foreign volunteers joined the Finnish fight against Russia. The bulk of foreign volunteers fighting in Finland were Swedish. At times, German Nazi forces were also fighting alongside Finnish and volunteer forces, against Russians, resulting in the odd possibility that Jewish Finnish or volunteer officers could be commanding German Nazi soldiers.
Mail from Swedish volunteers can often be identified by postmarks and handstamps that include "F" and/or return addresses of "Haparanda F" and/or "S.F.K." postmarks. Markings using the Swedish-language term "fältpost" indicate Swedish-language units, senders, etc., however they do not guarantee that the item is volunteer mail. The Finnish-language term "kenttäpostia" is also (less often) seen on volunteer mail.

Light Red Violet "FÄLTPOST / F" (Swedish volunteer forces) handstamp, violet boxed sans-serif "FÄLTPOST" handstamp AND violet boxed sans-serif KENTTÄPOSTIA handstamp (extremely unusual to have both; in 34 years I have just had a couple that had both), black circular "KENTTÄPOSTIKONTTORI No 4" postmark, and blue circular Finnish censor handstamp.
