Newly acquired items worthy of your attention. These may or may not be described with quite as much detail as usual, however, as always, your satisfaction is guaranteed. All are available for approval viewing. Scott numbers have been used unless otherwise mentioned.
1a-7a Complete set of IMPERFORATE singles, Mint VF, with very ample margins. The 5 and 10 mark high values are NEVER HINGED, having been hinged on folded over selvage (which could easily be removed if desired). Despite the Scott listing for pairs, these are usually collected as singles. These are much, much scarcer and more difficult to obtain than any of the catalogs suggest. These should be valued much higher than the normal stamps.

1 Perforation Error: Partly Perforated and Misperforated. NH VF top margin 4-block with missing vertical perforations. Three horizontal perforation rows. 8 mm of white margin at top and then 8 mm of stamp design before first perforation row. Then two 25 mm stamp design rows (misperforated). The perforation rows run just below the top line of the coat of arms. Very clean perforations. Heavy yellow gum with large-scale crackling as sometimes seen on the 5 penni value. Spectacular error.

1 Perforation Error: Misperforated. NH VF bottom margin vertical pair. Correct vertical perforations, but horizontal perforations are about 4 mm below top line of coat of arms. From bottom, 7 mm of blank margin, then a perforation row, then 10 mm of blank margin, then start of stamp design. Very rough perforation variety. Smooth White Gum.

1 Misperforated. NH upper left corner margin block of 36 (9 columns, 4 rows) fully perforated with correct horizontal perforations. The vertical perforations are shifted about 3 mm to the right (thus cutting through the left "5"). The stamps are the normal 20 mm width except the right-most two columns which are narrower. The block also shows a variety of plate flaws, for example "white spot on N" in all the stamps of column 4. Clean perforations. Slightly crackled yellow gum (not the smooth gum type). Regular NH stamps sell for around $7/each ($250 total).
2 Perforation Error. NH right margin block of 10 (5 columns, 2 rows) fully perforated with correct horizontal perforations. The vertical perforations are shifted in dramatic ways, resulting in an extremely narrow (14 mm) column of stamps on left entirely missing the "10" on the right side. The next three columns of stamps of normal 20 mm width, but greatly misaligned due to the previous error; both "10" are on the left side of each stamp. The right column is extra-wide (24 mm) thus including the "10" of the adjacent stamp to the left; thus there are THREE "10" on the right-column stamps. Normal vertical perforation at right and left sides of the 10-block. Very clean perforations. Smooth yellow gum. A dramatic type of error including the narrowest and widest North Ingermanland stamps I can recall seeing and the only N.I. stamps I recall with only one denomination or with three denominations! Stunning item!

1 "Diamond Perforation" DOUBLE PERFORATION on left side. Used VF with fully dated (very unusual) 16 April 1920 cancellation. While in 38 years I have had a very few examples of North Ingermanland stamps with double perforations, this is the only USED double perforation stamp I can recall having. When the doubling happens in the virtually the same position, the result is called "diamond perforation" due to the resulting appearance. Outstanding example!

11 [1867 1 mk Serpentine Roulette III] Used F-VF centered very pretty, genuine, example with neat (JAK)OBSTAD 29 March 1871 cancellation. Only one tooth missing and the teeth at the bottom somewhat short (typical). The teeth at the top are fully present and even have some of the "holes" present so that you can better see the design at the top. Other than what you can see of the teeth, there are no defects or repairs. Most examples in the general market seem to be damaged and/or repaired. This example is much better quality and much more attractive than usual for this very scarce stamp.

C9 Type II Non-Fluorescent/whitish (Facit #583IIv1, HaP paper; 13 shading lines in the zeros). Originally issued as Type I with 16 shading lines in the zeros, in 1963 on non-fluorescent TeP paper and then in 1965 on whitish (non) fluorescent HaP paper. Re-engraved in 1973 with 13 shading lines in the zeros (and other differences), first printed on the whitish (non) fluorescent HaP paper (this stamp!) and then, less than a year later, in 1974 on yellow fluorescent EGpQ coated paper. The 1973 printing was little known to collectors and was not distributed through the usual "new issue" channels; they were virtually all consumed for postage before many collectors knew they existed. As a result, this has become one of the rarest, if not the rarest, modern Finnish stamp in mint condition. Furthermore, well-centered examples are very scarce. NH Superb in perfect quality in all respects.

M8, Facit #F8 [1963 Military] NH Superb vertical 8-block, right margin with printing registration guidelines. Soldiers were allocated only 5 stamps each for use during the training maneuvers for which these stamps were issued; the stamps were apparently supplied to the soldiers in advance and then could be used by family members, etc., to send letters to the soldiers. Thus there should be no units larger than 5 stamps. Multiples are scarce, but 5-strips and occasionally a 4-block are seen. However, units larger than 5 are rare and should not exist in private hands. I first obtained a unit larger than 5 stamps in 2000 or 37 years after their issuance! A wonderful block! The break-up value of this Superb block is $1480, however, this item is much scarcer than that!
