1962 Small-Size Postal Savings Stamps: Complete set of 25 øre Dark Ultramarine (Fine to VF) and 1 krone Bright Red (VF to Superb) NH FULL SHEETS OF 50. Though different printings or perforations have not previously been documented in the literature, these two stamps were obviously printed at different times. The 25 øre is on slightly yellowish paper with line perforation 10.75 while the 1 krone is on very white paper with line perforation 11.75. Full sheets, especially in such nice quality are very scarce. A set of the two stamps sells for $30-40, which totals $1500 to 2000 for the set of sheets! Offered at a remarkably low price!

1938 Savings Book (Type II) used by one "Johan Mörck II" with crowned "KOLONIEN / UPERNAVIK" cancellations. Contains 10 (TEN) Scott #Q11 [Facit #P18, 1 krone 1937 Andreasen and Lachmann design] and 50 (FIFTY) Scott #Q6a [1937 20 øre Schultz printing, Perf 10.75] Pakke-Porto stamps. Five of the 1 krone stamps have typical defects (mostly minor); the actual sale value of the other five (mostly VF) sound stamps, if removed, is about $450. Used #Q11 with Greenlandic village cancellations are quite scarce. One VF #Q11 has Wowern variety Ka (white dot between two seagulls on the right). The #Q6a stamps are in better condition, with only 9 or 10 with minor quality problems (most hardly noticeable). Counting 40 sound #Q6a, all at least F-VF or F-VF+, and most VF or better, their actual sale value if removed is about $2700. Again, #Q6a is scarce with Greenlandic village cancellations. There are several Wowern-listed varieties present on the 20 øre stamps, including: "snakebite on right 2" (Wowern Fa, Facit P14v; 2nd page stamp 12), Wowern Fc (2nd page, stamp 10), Wowern Fb (2nd page stamp 11, 4th page stamp 10), and at least two others listed by Wowern (I did not check them all). Removing all the stamps from the book would yield more than $3150 in actual sale value! The prices noted do not add anything for the village cancellations or for the catalog-listed varieties; they are just the prices of the basic used stamps. If everything were tallied, the actual sale value would surely reach $3500. This book is in very fresh and an in excellent condition with just the usual notations from being cashed in. The book is complete with all pages; there are NO stains, tears, or other damage to the book. All the pages are clean and attractive. This is an exceptional book with very unusual stamps (they usually have #Q6 and #Q8). Such high-value books are very scarce as most were soaked apart years ago. An outstanding item offered well below the break-up value.

Thule Local Post 1979 Souvenir Card. Issued as #7 in a series issued by the Danish Red Cross (the only one with a Greenlandic stamps). Bears official reprints, printed directly on the card, of the set of five Thule Local Post stamps, printed from original cliches, with printed/simulated perforations. Each card is serially numbered on the reverse. Eight sets of original cliches were used; the reverse of each card indicates that it uses cliches #1-8, thus there are eight different cards. The card also bears Scott #B8 Knud Rasmussen, the founder of the European community at Thule, with 7 June 1979 first day cancellation. This card can be very difficult to find. 1939 Large-Numeral Postal Savings Stamp: 1 Krone Orange 4-BLOCK with VF Crown and "Kolonien / Umanak" village postal cancellations. 1939 Large-Numeral Postal Savings Stamp: 25 øre Dark Blue NEVER HINGED lower left corner margin 4-block. NH examples are extremely scarce and are seldom offered; blocks are much scarcer. Centering F-VF/Fine with typical variance. The narrow bottom margin is exactly the same as all other bottom margin examples I have ever seen. Interesting variety (does not add to price) showing a diagonal blue plate scratch that on the upper right stamp extends from betweet "it" of "sitdlimat" down through the "Ø" of "ØRE" and then into the lower stamp between the "dl" and down through the "R" of "ØRE". Such fresh quality is rare.

Fantasy (private) overprints on genuine Greenland stamps: Set of three "expedition" overprints with 4 kr surcharges typographed onto Greenland Scott #48 [1963 1 øre Northern Lights]. Overprinted: "STORE KOLDEWEY EXPEDITION", "JOKEL- BUGTEN EXPEDITION", and "WANDLES SEA EXPEDITION". Attributed to the creative American collector Brad Arch (deceased), and were probably produced in the mid-1960s. Completely private, unauthorized "Cinderella" stamps, however they are interesting and have been quite popular. (I have seen them sell at public auction at high prices, but this price is much more appropriate.)

"IVIGTUT / KRYOLITHBRUD / BYPOST 1922" 10 øre green imperforate "stamp". The design includes a polar bear and a pick and shovel (for mining cryolite, a mineral used in aluminum production, of which Greenland was the only commercial producer; this and several other rare minerals from the Ivigtut deposit are all, to some degree, hydrous aluminum sodical calcium fluorides). This is a completely private, unauthorized fantasy or "Cinderella" label with no postal connection whatsoever. Attributed to the creative American collector Brad Arch (deceased), and were probably produced in the mid-1960s. Interesting and quite popular and now fairly scarce. (I have seen examples sell at public auction at high prices, but this price is much more appropriate.)

Greenlandic Trade Certificates -- WWII-era money. "Grønlands Administration" Handels Værdimærke or Trade Certificate. Issued in 1942 under the (American) Military Administration of Greenland. Denominated in Skilling though no such currency was actually in use in Greenland or Denmark. Heavy high quality yellowish-white paper sometimes showing a watermark: double-line letters 2-line forming an oval "ADIRONDACK LEDGER" and below that in smaller single-line letters "MADE IN U.S.A." Set of three listed as: PM 8 1 Skilling Red; PM 9 5 Skilling Blue; PM 10 20 Skilling Green. Watermark showing on 1 Skilling (nearly complete) and 5 Skilling. 233-8 [1991 Seals] approximately 0.75-1.00 ounce officially shredded by the Greenland post office and used for packing material in a shipment from Greenland. The material is thin-cut, but not cross-cut, thus you might be able to piece enough together to determine why it was shredded. Was it shredded due to unpublicized errors or was it simply withdrawn from sale??? Would make a neat desk ornament if put in a glass display bottle or similar arrangement. I have never before seen shredded stamps that reached the public via official channels. Price includes shipping in the U.S.; it is a bit awkward to ship despite the low weight.
