Iceland: Bargains: Bargain Stamps - Scott #193 To Date: 1935-1941 Pictorials: Geysers, Fish, New York Worlds Fair, Karlsefni, etc.
These bargain-priced stamps are attractive, but most have hidden flaws. You can save a tremendous amount of money when you add such stamps to your collection. Each stamp is one of a kind, so please let me know if I may substitute a different example (that looks as good or better, for the same cost) if the stamp you order has sold. If you have any doubts, all are available for approval viewing. If you are seeking stamps of this quality and price level from any of the Scandinavian countries, just send along your want list -- I will be happy to send bargains on approval. Scott numbers have been used unless otherwise stated.

Orlof 10 aur Overprint on Scott #221 (Facit #245C2) [10 aur green Fish, comb perf 14x14 thin tooth at top] Mint with VF centering; this example is actually NH, but has an area of gum discoloration (from an old stock page), thus cannot be described as NH. This example looks wonderfully fresh from the front. This is the most commonly found Orlof overprinted stamp, however, well centered examples are scarce. The underlying stamp exists with three perforation types, logically however, the only overprinted version recorded is the last one printed. Theoretically other perforations could exist.

Orlof 20 aur Overprint on Scott #224 (Facit #248C2) [25 aur red Fish, comb perf 14x14 thin tooth at top] Mint without gum, with F-VF centering. I attest that this example is Mint no gum, not Used without cancellation: I soaked it and another stamp apart; both were fully gummed and fully stuck to each other. Very attractive with fresh and bright appearance. The underlying stamp exists with three perforation types, logically however, the only overprinted version recorded is the last one printed. Theoretically other perforations could exist.

273 [1952 25 kr Parliament Building] Mint, lightly hinged, with F-VF centering. Very fresh with crisp engraving impression and perfect perforations. A very reasonably priced example of a stamp that is missing from many collections. This example is accompanied by a 1969 photo certificate from well-known expert S. Grønlund (this stamp does not normally need a certificate, but one was obtained).
