Iceland: Cancellations: Foreign - United States

Foreign cancellations on Icelandic stamps are largely the result of mail handed directly to fishing boats and small cargo ships or letters written by sailors on those vessels. When the next port of call was another country (typically Denmark, Norway, and the United Kingdom) the postmark of that country was applied. In the case of Denmark, this was often the "FRA ISLAND" (from Iceland) incoming ship mail cancellation.

All items may be viewed on approval; approval groups of foreign cancellations on Icelandic stamps are also available.
