42 [1902 40 aur Christian IX] Used with Superb centering and substantially complete FÁSKRUÐSFJÖRÐUR (Type B1b) 29 August 1918 bridge-style cancellation. While this is not a "scarce" cancellation, it is seldom seen so complete on individual small-size stamps. Also because this cancel device started in use in 1906, it is quite unusual on the Christian IX stamps. The cancel strike is sideways, but this is the only way that the full town name and full date could possibly fit on the stamp! An outstanding example of stamp that can be quite hard to find in such nice quality and also very hard to find with nice small town cancellations. |
