249 [50 aur Hekla volcano] and 267 [2 kronur definitive] (VF) on attractive 1952 airmail cover from HALLDORSSTADIR to the U.S. 10 aur convenience overpayment as was typical at the time. Large Kansas City (MO) pointing hand return to sender marking along with numerous other handstamps and postmarks. The sender, a well-known bird egg collector (as well as stamp collector) was writing to the Kansas City Zoological Society, but did not supply a complete address. A very nice postal history item; covers returned to Iceland are scarce.
