178 pair [1932 4 aur Christian X, redrawn] (F-VF+) on 1932 picture post card with correct 8 aur franking for local post cards (rate went to 10 aur on 1 January 1933). However, the dateline is København (Denmark) 6 December 1932 and the postmark is Reykjavík 16 December 1932. Appears to have been privately carried outside the mail and posted upon landing at Reykjavík; unusual usage. Facit 2006 value on cover/card SEK 300 = $40 for a normal (printed matter) usage.

Iceland #117 [1920 15 aur Christian X, still in active use at the time] (F-VF) on 7 July 1934 Icelandic picture post card (real photo of Leif Ericsson statue) mailed aboard and WITHIN the SWEDISH cruise ship M/S Kungsholm, as it crossed the Arctic Circle, presumably after most recently having visited Iceland. Small spot near top. Canceled and handstamped with the seemingly full range (five different) of the official postal cancellations and handstamps available in the ship post office. Though I have handled hundreds of Kungsholm covers mailed at sea around the world, this is the first in 38 years that I can recall being mailed WITHIN the ship and probably one of less than five that have borne Icelandic stamps or markings.

U.S. Military censorship of photographs and cards: "PHOTOGRAPH / PASSED BY / BASE CENSOR" double-ring circular censor handstamp in black on unused linen-finish, U.S.-made picture post card. The card was created in 1939 by/for the Icelandic Commission to the New York Worlds Fair and illustrates Hvanneyri, a model farm showing off Icelandic agricultural progress. The card was probably sold at the military base PX in Iceland for soldiers to use writing home. Examples of this censorship handstamp are extremely scarce; I have only seen them on unused cards.
