| Starting in 1997, the Norwegian Philatelic Federation (Norsk Filatelistforbund) began offering one perfined booklet per year, the Christmas issue, with perfin "NF" and the year, thus such as "NF 97". The perfin was done through the naturally folded booklet in two steps; the top row through the front cover and the bottom row through the back cover. Though that may be hard to picture, this results in all four, of the two different alternating stamp designs in these booklets, each having a different perfin postion (upright, inverted, upright reversed, inverted reversed) -- quite a clever method. These were made for collectors, but they are real perfins and the stamps were/are still just as valid for postage (and do exist on covers). These particular booklets were self-adhesives and are subject to the varying condition problems that can occur for each particular year (1998 always shows discoloration around the die-cutting). These booklets, just as the normal versions, exist with and without serial number in the selvage.
