Throndhjem-Stören-Jernbane 1870 2 and 4 Skilling Railway Parcel Stamps. First Norwegian railway parcel stamps. NEVER HINGED VF/F-VF set in blocks of four. Both show the typical hand-brushed irregular gum; the 4 skilling has a touch of discoloration at upper left, but these are still fresh and desirable blocks. Singles are seldom offered, especially in nice quality, but blocks are extremely scarce and NH examples are quite scarce. |

Parcel Delivery Stamp: ca.1911 Tönsberg og Omgens Automobil Compani (Třnsberg and District Automobile Company) 10 "öre" black on pink paper, perforated 11.5. Described and pictured in the Brofos catalog of railway and parcel stamps. The original 1964 text stated that his example was straight-edged on two sides (sheet margin). The color illustration added in 2008 shows that stamp, with straight-edge on right and bottom; it is creased and perhaps has faded color. The example I offer is perforated on all four sides (telling us a little more about the sheet format) and with wonderfully vibrant pink color, but no gum. If Brofos, the king of such stamps, had not found a better example between 1964 and 2008, this must be a rare stamp indeed! |
