17b (Gray Blue) VERTICAL WATERMARK, Facit #17avm [1872 2 skilling gray blue Posthorn] Used F-VF with light, but correct, single-ring cancel with 1873 date, and with red crayon marking, typically from use on a foreign letter which would have received various rate and routing markings. This red marking is not a defect, but it does lower the price from about $490! The gray blue stamp with normal horizontal watermark is already very scarce (Facit SEK 2000) with a cancellation showing use in the proper period. Examples of this vertical watermark variety are extremely scarce with a proper cancel (Facit SEK 3800)! Note that some albums have separate spaces for these vertical vs horizontal watermarks. An excellent example of a seldom-offered stamp.

17 Ultramarine "Short LL" Variety, Facit #17cv1 [1872 2 skilling Posthorn] Used with F-VF centering and neat (CHRISTIA)NIA postmark from the correct time period and clear of the variety. The "short LL" variety is rarely offered; I cannot recall the last time that I was able to offer an example; probably more than 25 years ago. It is tremendously scarcer than the SEK 2018 Facit Catalog value (SEK for the basic stamp canceled in the proper period and +400 for the variety). An excellent example, even missing from the vast majority of specialized collections!

19a, Facit #19aa, NK #19Ia Dark Violet on Thin Grayish/Bluish Paper. [1872 4 skilling Posthorn] Used F-VF+ with 1873 (proper period) cancellation. Remarkably intense color. Facit 2013 value SEK 1500 = US$225 [10/2012] for normal quality. This example has much nicer, centering, color, and appearance than is usually seen for this color.

19, Facit 19ab Dull Violet on Gray-White Paper [1872 4 skilling Posthorn] Used with F-VF centering and 1874 in-period (TRON)DHJEM cancellation. Nice color for this Pale Violet printing. The 31 March 1874 cancel and the thin paper confirms that this must be the Facit #19ab stamp. Facit 2018 value for proper-period use is SEK 1800!
