The full Norway Stamps section will be coming soon. However, I do have a very comprehensive stock of NH, Mint Hinged, and Used Norwegian stamps and would be happy to send stamps on approval from your want list, using your choice of Scott, Facit, or NK numbers.
Unless there is a 6-digit item number in the left-most column, the images shown in this section are standard images of the issues from my image library; they are presented to show the designs of the stamp issues and not to show the specific individual stamps being offered. The centering of the stamps in the images is usually Superb or VF quality; again these are not images of the individual stamps being offered. Most early stamps had multiple printings, thus color shades vary greatly; the colors in the images are random printings/colors. If there is a 6-digit item number in the left-most column, the image is of the actual item being offered.
"Personalized Stamps" are officially issued postage stamps which have a central design image that has either been supplied by a private individual or company, or which is a "Standard" design created and distributed by the post office. The distinguishing feature of different Personalized Stamp issues is the border or frame; in the Scandinavian countries that issue such stamps, there is a pattern of a new frame being issued every year. Because the central design, in the case of privately supplied designs, can be different from one sheet of stamps to the next, most stamp catalogs only catalog the different "frames" or borders. The "Standard Personalized Stamps" issued by the post offices are officially created issues that are usually the standard stamp that is sought by most collectors and which is listed by most stamp catalogs; there is usually only one Standard design for each different frame/border. Some countries issue Personalized Stamps in sheet form while others issue them in booklet form. The design is constant within a sheet or booklet. Norway has utilized both booklets and sheets, but not both for the same frame design.
1558 S/S "Posten / Bring" Standard officially issued Personalized Souvenir Sheet of two stamps.
VF: Norway has the distinction of creating what I believe to be the first souvenir sheet of "Standard Personalized Stamps" containing more than one stamp design. This was issued in late 2008 and contains two stamps (same frame design) with two different logos for Posten and Bring. The designs mark the division of Norway Post into two parts: Posten - what we think of as the standard "post office" and Bring - a package delivery, freight, and logistics company (similar to UPS in the U.S.). Only 275,000 of this souvenir sheet were printed and distributed free of charge to people in Oslo and other cities around Norway, sometimes in post offices, but also given away to people on the street. Because the souvenir sheet was NOT sold to collectors and distribution was wide, but one to a person, these souvenir sheets are extremely difficult to obtain. The Scott Catalog editors HAVE reserved a catalog number for this souvenir sheet; such a catalog listing will result in large demand that cannot possibly be filled. [233002]
