Sweden: Covers: Newspaper Stamps
All covers are available for approval viewing. The covers shown are just a very small sample of my stock. Please tell me more about your collecting interests and what types of covers you are seeking.
The term "newspaper stamps" usually refers to stamps issued for the purpose of mailing newspapers, but Sweden does not have such special-purpose stamps. Iin the case of Sweden, the term refers to stamps printed IN newspapers for the public to clip out and use to mail letters. These are officially authorized valid-for-postage stamps printed in newspapers, created as part of campaigns to promote letter writing. The stamps were issued without gum and had to be glued or (more usually) taped to envelopes. There were three basic stamp issues, with two types of the third issue:

1990 "Heart" published in the Sunday 11 February 1990 edition of EXPRESSEN newspaper and valid for postage only 11-13 February 1990.

1991 "Thank You Post" published in the Sunday 13 January 1991 edition of AFTONBLADET newspaper and valid for postage only 12-20 January 1991.

1995 "Sting Post" published in the Sunday EXPRESSEN newspaper. "Sting" was a "Sunday supplement" for kids. Valid for postage only 5-13 February 1995. Type I: Scissors in upper left corner. Published 5 February 1995. This type seems to be scarcer. Type II: Scissors in upper right corner. Published 12 February 1995. NOTE: Though the Facit value for Sting stamps is less than the earlier stamps, they are, in my experience scarcer and I often have a waiting list for examples. Attractive on-cover examples are scarce; tape-on stamps are typical, thus neatly glued-on stamps are worth more.
