23a, Facit #22f [1876 20 öre Ringtype Perf 14 Pale (Yellow) Orange] Used with Fine centering. This stamp looks like the color is completely faded but it is not -- this is what it is supposed to look like. It has a supporting 3 January 1876 cancellation which is correct for this printing/color. This example explains why the Scott #23b double-print stamps were created -- this super-light color is obviously not suitable for postal use, thus most of them were printed AGAIN in darker color. The centering of these pale-color stamps is virtually always very poor (the printers could not see what they were doing, I guess). This is a nice example!

23b DOUBLE PRINT [1876 20 on 20 öre Ringtype Perf 14] Used F-VF with neat, upright GRENNA 4 August 1877 cancellation (plus small part of another strike). One printing of the 20 öre was so light in Pale Orange olor as to be almost useless (though some were released and used) and thus they were run through the press again to print in a darker color. Facit lists three possible color groups on top of the Pale Orange; This is Facit #23c, the Dull Red, however, this red of this example is much softer or more pale than typically found (the colors were hand-mixed as needed and were not consistent). The red (top) color is shifted a little farther than usual from the underlying color, making this example a little more obvious than usual (clearly visible, but as always more visible with a 10x magnifier). Such obvious examples are scarce -- and especially when in such nice quality and with a nice postmark.
