Official year books are handsome hardbound books that contain the stamps issued during the year as well as dozens of wonderful photographs and illustrations and interesting and informative text about the stamp issues and the country. The text is usually in multiple languages; unless otherwise stated, full English text is included. Sweden official year books have been issued since 1987-88. From the start until the 2003-2004 book, each book contains the stamps from mid-year through mid-year. Starting with the 2005-titled book, the books contain the stamps of the calender year.
The year books are meant as a philatelic showcase for the country and are thus of the highest quality. Though most people collect the year books as year books, they are also a great way to get the stamps of the year and enjoy the wonderful photographs and text. They also make a great gift for anybody with a special attraction to the country. Some samples of the contents are shown below.
