Collections: United States: First Day Covers
I am constantly buying large and small collections and often have a variety of U.S. and Worldwide collections, lots, and accumulations available. If you are considering getting into a new area and would like a "starter collection" (whether small or large), let me know about your interest. Also, if you are seeking used binders or used empty albums to match what you currently have, again, let me know. Here are a few samples of collections. The listings below are included by happenstance. If you are seeking a particular country or type of material, please let me know. Payment plans are available. I guarantee your satisfaction.

Due to the low prices and variation in weight, shipping cost is additional for items in the Specials Collections listings unless otherwise mentioned. When ordering please include a note in the shopping cart comments section indicating if you prefer faster/costlier or slower/cheaper delivery so that I may more quickly quote the shipping costs and options for you.

Collections and lots are not normally sent on approval. If you have questions about an item, please inquire before ordering. Special return and refund limitations typically apply to such items. Please see the "Order Info" page for details.

Each item is one of a kind; orders will be filled in order of receipt. Payment by MasterCard or Visa suggested, but I will hold items for 10 days pending receipt of check if you prefer.

U.S. Cacheted First Day Covers Accumulation 1960s-1990s: Group of about 150 unsorted CACHETED addressed FDCs ranging from the 1960s to the 1990s. I see one as early as mid-1950s and as late as the mid-1990s, but it looks like most are in the 1970s-1980s. While most of the cachets are from the usual larger makers, I do see some from smaller cachet makers. Condition on almost all is VF. They are addressed, but are clean and nice. A great way to start or expand your FDC / cachet collection at a very low price.

U.S. Cacheted Unaddressed First Day Covers Accumulation 1960s-1990s: Group of about 925 unsorted CACHETED UNADDRESSED FDCs ranging from the 1960s to the 1990s; it looks like most are in the 1970s-1980s. While most of the cachets are from the usual larger makers, I do see some from smaller cachet makers. Condition on almost all is VF. They are 99% unaddressed (in case I missed removing an addressed cover), and are clean and nice. There is a tremendous range of issues and I see a lot of items that would easily sell today for $1 or $2 (or more). Some items have their previous price labels; lots of those are in the $2-3 range. A great way to start or expand your FDC / cachet collection at a very low price. This is also an excellent dealer / trader/ eBayer lot.

United States First Day Cover Group: 1969-1977 "Marg" Cachets: Group of about 94 first day covers with "Marg" cachets. This is a relatively little-known cachet maker who produced some very attractive artwork. FDCs from such smaller cachet makers can really be scarce. These are all addressed and were postally mailed (but vast majority in excellent quality); they were sent as commercial advertising, some still containing the promotional letters, from The Foxboro Company, to an industrial plant manager in Louisiana, thus they are addressed. (Without the letters they look just like "normal" first day covers.) Generally speaking, this type of advertising vehicle is seen mainly from the 1950s to the early 1970s. Many of these are listed by a major FDC dealer with net prices ranging from $2.70 to over $6.00 each -- thus totaling well over $300 and perhaps even over $400. Furthermore, quite a few are not currently available from that major dealer (thus some may or may not be even scarcer). Includes many iconic issues such as: Grandma Moses, Moon Landing, Baseball, Football, Olympics, Parks, Bicentennial., etc. If these were standard, common cachets, they would be no big deal. However, as much scarcer "Marg" cachets this is quite a nice group. The whole group at less than one-third normal retail value and less than $1 each!

U.S. 1995-2008 USPS Official FDCs Lot: Group of perhaps 250-275 (more or less) official USPS FDCs -- uncacheted, unaddressed. All in pristine condition. All single stamps or sets of singles (the sets appear to be complete) on individual singles covers. Yes, these are very plain, but that is exactly the benefit -- covers such as these can be used to make after-the-fact individual cachet artwork (which often sells for remarkably high prices). Or they simply can be collected as the USPS products that they are. At less than 20 cents each, they are priced very far below original cost and only a fraction of their original face value.
