Scott #499 variety, 1917 2c Rose Washington Vertical Pair. Mint Fine-Ave. This looks like the rare 499c imperforate between (Scott 2009 $1000), but close inspection reveals traces of blind perfs across the forehead of the bottom stamp. An attractive and affordable accent piece.

Scott #517 variety, 1917 50c Red Violet Franklin Bottom Margin Vertical Pair, Imperforate Between. Mint VF. This looks like the rare 517b, but it has extremely faint traces of just two perf impressions in center margin and faint traces of perfs in bottom margin. In 2006, Scott listed 517b at $6000 Mint hinged or Used. In the 2009 Scott Catalog, only used is listed, at $10,000! While this pair cannot be labeled as 517b, the vertical pair to the right of it was surely 517b -- it is a nice neighborhood in which to live.
