3-6 [2, 4, 8, 16 1854-57 Dotted Spandrels] The complete set of four official reprints of the Dotted Spandrel designs. The 2 sk and 16 sk are the 1885 reprints (the only reprints made of these two stamps) and the 4 sk and 8 sk are the VERY SCARCE 1924 reprints (again, the only reprints of these two stamps). The 2 sk and 16 sk were issued without gum; these two examples have been privately gummed. The 4 sk and 8 sk were issued gummed; these are original gum examples. The 1924 4 sk and 8 sk reprints are remarkably scarce, especially still with gum; they are seldom offered in any condition. Mint VF hinged. The stamps are neatly and correctly mounted in black split-back mounts. Classic treatment, mounted on beautiful hand-lettered piece of album page from the Paul and Irene Carlton collection. The Carltons stated that the reprints were from the famous Hans Lagerloef collection. I purchased the Carlton collection; I sold this set to Holcomb and I have now purchased the Holcomb collection. Scott #O1 Official Reprint [1886 reprints of 1871 2 sk Official stamps] COMPLETE SHEET OF TEN, as "issued". Imperforate, ungummed and without watermark (all correct for the reprints). "Mint" with Superb appearance and the complete (huge) margins of the sheet. Hinged, but with NO defects, NONE of the usual creases, etc. Wonderfully fresh, with excellent color (this muted shade is the correct original color, it is NOT faded), and completely correct appearance. Seldom offered! These are a great way to "spice up" a collection. As singles, the individual reprints with these large margins would sell for $20 EACH. The sheet is offered below break up value!
