Scott #2 Type I with HIGH OVERPRINT, Facit #4Iv3, Faroe Daka GF10 2017 #4B [1941 20 øre WWII Provisional Surcharge on 1 øre Numeral] Used with VF-XF centering and with a very neat, partial (THORS)HAVN cancellation. The high overprint variety is not just a random shift; it is a major variety listed in all the specialized catalogs. The overprint is positioned with the "20" numerals on top of "DANMARK". The catalogs indicate that about 600 examples were issued and are now quite difficult to find. This example of the variety is the first one in 53 years that I have encountered in a collection where it was not identified as being the variety. It is theoretically possible that it was used on a letter before collectors discovered that the variety existed and that I may have been the first person since 1941 to recognize it for what it is. Scott #3 [1941 20 øre WWII Provisional Surcharge on 5 øre Numeral] Used with VF centering and neat, partial starless (uds) FUND(ING) cancellation (Daka GF10 2017 #34.02). The DAKA value for just the cancellation is DKK 150 (6/2026 US$23) on ANY single stamp; it is scarcer on the surcharged stamps). This example has an OBVIOUS UNLISTED OVERPRINT VARIETY (even though similar varieties are listed on other of these stamps): "Right vertical bar shorter at bottom". The basic Used VF stamp without an interesting variety or a scarce cancellations sells for $32! Whether collected for the basic stamp, the overprint variety, or the cancellation, this is a very pretty example of this WWII-era stamp with a great price. ACTUAL item. |

Scott #5 Type I [1940 50 øre overprint on 5 øre Wavy-lines Numeral; 1940 Overprint Type I] Used with VF centering and with a neat, correct type of cancellation in use at that time. A very attractive example of a scarcer stamp that is missing from many collections. (I guarantee that this stamp is genuine. It is not a stamp that normally requires a certificate, however, if you wish to have a certificate, for the reduced cost of only $20 I will supply a Jay Smith certificate with "Lifetime" Guarantee. Allow an extra week for processing.) Overprint Type I has 12.75 mm spacing, a crisp impression, and solid black numerals. Overprint Type II has 13+ mm spacing, a slightly doubled-looking impression, and partially UNfilled numerals. The measuring is done from the right edge of the left "0" the right edge of the right "0". This is great example of a stamp that can be quite hard to find with such nice appearance. ACTUAL item. |
