"Fredrika Runeberg 1807 - 1879" essay (proposed, but unaccepted, stamp design) prepared ca.1947. [Runeberg was a Finnish author, novelist, and one of the first female journalists in Finland. Wikipedia states Runeberg was the "first Finnish author to critically analyze the status of women, at home and in the society."] Brownish Red, engraved, on perforated, gummed stamp paper. Known to have been printed in sheets of 100. Exact date of "issue" not known to me, but this essay is very similar in style and printing to the issues of 1947-1952. I strongly suspect that this essay was printed by the Finnish stamp printer of the time. This subject and design was not accepted. NH VF single stamp. REPRESENTATIVE image of stamp design. |
