2-3 [1856 10 Kop, 1858 5 kop Large Pearls in Posthorn] COMPLETE SET of the 1892 Lithographed OFFICIAL REPRINTS. (Some catalogs list the date as 1893, but expert Olamo stated they were made in 1892.) Mint XF-Superb with expected large margins. Full gum as issued, very lightly hinged. Issue of only 1000 each; they are seldom offered, especially in such nice quality and still with gum (most examples lost their gum long ago)! By far the nicest set I have had in 50 years! Mint Superb, with no gum as issued, but tiny thin speck hardly worth mentioning (most examples seen on the market turn out to have at least a small quality problem). The quantity printed is apparently not recorded, but they are so seldom encountered that it cannot have been many. Seldom offered, especially with such attractive appearance! ACTUAL item. |

4-5, 6-11 [1860 5, 10 kop; 1866 5, 8, 10, 20, 40 penni, 1 mark Serpentines] THE COMPLETE SET OF 1893 OFFICIAL REPRINTS. NEVER HINGED, almost-matched set of lower left corner margins (only the 8 penni is not; it has only a bottom margin). FULL TEETH and with VF OR BETTER CENTERING. Incredibly fresh and bright. [Around 1995 I sold this set is from a freshly broken block; recently I purchased the entire collection of that client.] Only 1000 printed; undervalued in the catalogs, especially in such pristine condition. Wonderfully fresh -- a stunning set! ACTUAL item. |

(23) [(1875) 32 penni 4-Numeral] Perforation 12.5 Official Reprint with boxed 23 x 8 mm black "SPECIMEN" overprint by metal handstamp (diagonal lower left to upper right, reading up from right). Mint with VF centering and full original gum. Extremely scarce. Both 500 unoverprinted and 500 specimen-overprinted reprints (supplies of the original stamps were exhausted) were ordered in 1892; the specimens were sent to the Russian postal administration for onward distribution. They were likely largely distributed via the UPU to other UPU member countries and thus most are still in postal archives and museums; the few examples available to collectors have likely been "liberated" one way or another. Examples are seldom seen and are grossly undervalued in the market, largely due to never having been properly listed in the specialized catalogs. ACTUAL item. |
