Greenland: Booklets: Private

Greenland semi-official and private booklets are quite scarce; most have been made in very small or extremely small quantities. Almost all of these booklets contain stamps that have been engraved by Slania and they are avidly sought after by Slania collectors as well as Greenland collectors.

All booklets are Never Hinged and Very Fine in fresh and attractive condition.

The numbering such as "PF-G1" printed on the back of the booklet cover. Privately issued by the committee for the DAFILA 73 stamp show in cooperation with the Greenland post office. If you have mounting variations not mentioned here, I would like to know about them.

VF: The complete set of 16 booklets in fresh and VF condition. With only 100 each issued of some of these booklets, sets are only rarely offered; I can count only four times in the last 45 years that I have been able to offer the complete set. PF-G8 Not Stapled

VF: Contains block of Scott #87 (SLANIA-engraved). Gray cover, NOT stapled. Pane affixed by right margin to the left side of the inside front cover. This appears to be the normal version. The literature states only 400 PF-G12 were issued, but we do not know how many were stapled vs non-stapled. Scarce. [201860]

PF-G8 Stapled Only Through Front Cover

VF: Contains block of Scott #87 (SLANIA-engraved). Gray cover, STAPLED ONLY THROUGH FRONT COVER. Pane stapled to (only) front cover by right margin, pane facing to the back. Thus the booklet CAN BE OPENED FLAT. First "discovered" by me in January 2015. The literature states only 400 PF-G8 were issued, but we do not know how many were glued in by their margin (normal) or stapled. This stapled version seems to be extremely scarce. [238328]

PF-G9 ERROR with 10 øre pane instead of 60 øre pane.

VF: IN ERROR contains 10 øre upper right 2061 plate block of Scott #87 (SLANIA-engraved) normally in booklet PF-G5. This PF-G9 cover should contain a 60 øre upper right 2060 plate block. Light Brown cover, "2060" upright at top right of front cover. The pane is facing to the back stapled to the front cover so the booklet can be fully opened. The stapling is from the inside to the outside (the bent over part is on the outside). This is the only wrong-pane error I have ever seen or heard of, in 45 years, from this series of booklets. This is a very rare item that is very likely unique [239911]

PF-G10 Stapled from inside to ouside

VF: Contains plate block of Scott #88 (SLANIA-engraved). Light Brown cover, "2060" inverted at bottom left of front cover. The pane is stapled into the cover back cover so the booklet can be fully opened. The stapling is is from the inside to the outside (the bent over part is on the outside); it is also known stapled from outside in (much scarcer). Only 100 issued total of both stapling types. PF-G10 Stapled from outside to inside

VF: Contains plate block of Scott #88 (SLANIA-engraved). Light Brown cover, "2060" inverted at bottom left of front cover. The pane is stapled into the cover back cover so the booklet can be fully opened. The stapling is from the outside to the inside (the bent over part is on the inside) -- this is the much scarcer type (it is normally stapled from the inside to the inside). The numbering such as "PF-G13" printed on the back of the booklet cover. Privately issued by the committee for the Fåborg (Faaborg) 750 stamp show in cooperation with the Greenland post office. It is likely that additional mounting variations will be found. I have already "discovered" (I have not seen them documented anywhere else) PF-G13 stapled (normal) and unstapled (pane affixed with margin); PF-G16 upright (apparently normal) and inverted. If you have variations not shown here, I would like to know about them. If you seek variations, please let me know.

The numbering is printed on the top front of the booklet cover. Privately issued by stamp dealer, apparently in cooperation with the Greenland post office. Some of these booklets exist with panes made up of horizontal or vertical pairs/strips (even a few 4-blocks and a few 2x pairs instead of 4-strips) and may be mounted upright and/or inverted, i.e. mounted by right or left margins with the margins to the center of the booklet. The order of the panes may vary. I have even discovered a previously unlisted variety using a face-different stamp in the booklet. If you seek specific mounting positions, please inquire. Though some of the mountings are surely scarcer than others, so far we do not know enough to differentiate them in terms of price. I am always interested in buying these booklets.

Set #3-12

VF: The complete set of Greenland booklets #3-12. (Booklets #1-2 contained Danish stamps and are available separately.) The DAKA Cinderella 1999 catalog gives a value for the set at DKK 2600 (approx $390). [201869]
