Scott #340-1 [1961 5.50 and 6.00 kr Europa] VF stamps, with a 22 February 1962 cancellation, on face of VF picture post card generically illustrating the 1961 Europa stamp design/logo. Produced in Europe by "FIDACOS". As of 11/2024, this is first example that I have recorded having of a maximum card (of any design) for this stamp issue. Also I have not seen this card used for the 1961 Europa issues of other countries, but I am "sure" that the card would have been used for other countries as well. Icelandic maximum cards from this era were prepared either by individual collectors or by perhaps a few dealers in very small quantities and they are "very scarce". This is also a very unusual Europa item from Iceland. ACTUAL item. |
