Scott #N2 Type I [October 1941 1.75 mk with Black Overprint Type I (top of middle A is squared off)] Used with VF centering on small piece with almost perfectly centered 4 November 1941 AUNUS town cancellation. (At this point in time, Aunus was "just" a Karelian town, but it is the same place that had the "Aunus" overprinted Finnish stamps in 1919.) While this cancellation is not "scarce", it is hard to find so well centered on Karelian stamps. ACTUAL item. |

(At this point in time, Aunus was "just" a Karelian town, but it is the same place that had the "Aunus" overprinted Finnish stamps in 1919.) This stamp is hard to find with such nice centering -- a "normal" Used VF example sells for $10. ACTUAL item. |

(At this point in time, Aunus was "just" a Karelian town, but it is the same place that had the "Aunus" overprinted Finnish stamps in 1919.) While being on this particular piece does not increase the value of this Used stamp, if it were removed from the piece both the town name and the year would be lost, thus I thought it best to leave it on the piece. The price is the same as for the single Used F-VF stamp. ACTUAL item. |

(At this point in time, Aunus was "just" a Karelian town, but it is the same place that had the "Aunus" overprinted Finnish stamps in 1919.) While being on this particular piece does not increase the value of this Used stamp, if it were removed from the piece both the town name and the year would be lost, thus I thought it best to leave it on the piece. The date is faint, but may be 18 January 1942. The type of postmark was mostly used on unfranked (free) soldiers envelopes, but is found from time to time on Finnish-stamped and Karelian-stamps envelopes. Any such examples are virtually always non-philatelic. Examples of Karelian stamps with this postmark are rarely offered. ACTUAL item. |
