Norway: Plate Blocks: Classic Date Blocks

All types and eras of Norwegian plate, date, NK, cylinder (dot or number), serial-number, and other imprint or marginal blocks are available. It you seek such please, please let me know of your interest.

The "classic" period of Norwegian Date Blocks runs from 1896 to 1937. Only the typographed definitive-issue stamps of this period have date imprints in the margin. The dates usually correspond with the specific printings. The practice was started as a security measure after a printing plant worker tried to replace a newly printed imperforate sheet with a sheet he had purchased at a post office. The known dates are listed, but not priced, by the NK catalog. Such marginal blocks are quite popular, but even the low-cost stamps are remarkably scarce in date block form. If you are seeking such blocks, please let me know; they usually sell before I have time to list them in price lists or on the website. Scott numbers have been used.
