Facit #RM 1a and RM 2b [1878 Rose-Lilac "ubesörget" and 1872 Dark Green "uindlöst" Returned Letter Stamps; NK #R1y and R2x] Set of two stamps with "SPECIMEN" OVERPRINTS. NK states that such overprints exist and Facit states that they are "rare" but does not give a valuation. Both stamps are Mint, No Gum (typical for Specimens). The Rose-Lilac stamp is F-VF with no defects. The Dark Green stamp is Fine with a tiny thin speck (typical for these stamps). Both stamps bear an expert mark of R.F. Engel who was active, or at least living, until 1943. This is a very rare set. 2009 Facit value for normal examples of these two stamps is SEK 9500 = $1330 [9/09], however, these SPECIMEN overprints are much more rare! ACTUAL item. |

848-9 [1984 Norwegian Weekly Press set] NH VF set with "SPECIMEN" overprints. Only issued in a pack with the regular set of stamps. [Upon request the pack can be supplied at the same price as the specimen set.] This is one of only two examples of "SPECIMEN" overprinting of modern Norwegian stamps of which I am aware (the other was in 2005 on the Norway #1 souvenir sheet).
