Norway: Postal Stationery: Used Postal Cards 1872-1887

Oslo Filatelistklubb (OFK) 1996-97 catalog numbers have been used unless otherwise indicated. This catalog is in stock and available from me.

A "POST" watermark was used from approximately 1936 to 1964 and can theoretically appear in up to eight positions. Certainly some positions are much scarcer than others -- and I list the differences -- however, my prices are the same for all positions. Unlike stamps, the postal stationery watermark positions are defined as viewed from the front of the item. See this illustration (on website).

Quality is VF unless otherwise indicated. In the case of postal stationery, the quality (VF, F-VF, Fine) refers to the quality of the card itself, not postmarks, etc. A "F-VF" might have slightly soiling or aging. A "Fine" item may have a crease or filing hole, etc.

All items are available for viewing on approval. I have a large stock of mint and used postal stationery of all types and from all time periods. What are you seeking?

Postal Card (Double) #21 Used VF from BERGEN 11 September 1885 to København with 15 Sept receivers (address was corrected). Intact double card correctly used in-period for the correct Nordic (except Sweden) rate to Denmark. The reply card was addressed by the sender, but the recipient never used the reply portion. After postal card #1, this is one of the scarcest used Norwegian postal cards (on par with the similar 6 øre brown double card). Seldom offered, especially not in nice quality used in the proper period. From the Norman Gary collection and previously from a 1984 Danam auction. It might be another 30 years before I can offer such an example!
