Slesvig stamps are of interest to collectors of both Denmark and Germany. The stamps are often poorly centered with Fine or F-VF being typical. VF examples are scarce and command significant premiums.
I wish to buy the following. Unoverprinted issue: any VF mint hinged singles or sets, any VF (and most F-VF) used singles or sets. "1. Zone" Overprints: Any F-VF or better NH, Mint Hinged, or Used singles or sets. "CIS" Overprints: Any NH, Mint Hinged, or Used stamps; certificates required for CIS overprints or I can obtain them for you.
Slesvig Scott #O1 [1920 2-1/2 pf Zone 2 (i.e. no zone overprint) with "C-I-S" Official Overprint] Mint, hinge remnant, with F-VF centering, but with one blunted perforation tooth at top. The hinge remnant is actually a hinge on which an early European stamp dealer (probably French or Belgian; the partial amount of text is in the French language) printed their advertising, also making this a "history of stamp dealing" collectible! The CIS overprints were issued for Official Use by the International Commission administering the Slesvig Plebiscite region. They were used from 26 January 1920 through 16 June 1920, only about six months. These overprinted are extremely scarce (only 4600 issued of each of the lower / pfennig denominations and only 2100 each of the mark denominations), and are especially scarce with nice centering. While these overprints are important for a collection of Denmark or Germany, as well as a WWI-era collection, this is also an important item for a "Number Ones" or "Entity" collection! In better quality (but still Mint Hinged), this centering would sell quickly at $60. This overprinted stamp issue should normally should have a certificate, but I have not provided a certificate because of the low price (due to the quality) of this example. I do guarantee this overprint to be genuine. However, if you want an actual Jay Smith color-image certificate with "lifetime guarantee", I can provide that for an additional $35 for the first one or $30 each if more than one of the CIS overprints. This is a very reasonable example of a stamp that I am rarely able to offer in any condition or quality!
