Sweden issued machine stamps from 1991 through 1997. The 1991-92 Machine Stamps were dispensed from three machines manufactured by the Swiss-based Frama company, thus the name FRAMA stamps. Starting in December 1992 the Frama machine were replaced by 200 German-made Klussendorf machines. These are real postage stamps, not meters or labels. They were and still are valid from any location in Sweden, at any time, by any mailer. (Unlike meter imprints which are only valid from the location and on the date imprinted, by the licensed user.) These Swedish machines were variable denomination (not fixed rate), but these stamps are customarily collected in "rate sets", as issued by the post office philatelic department, which were the most commonly used postage rates of each period.
