Scott #33 [1877 20 öre orange Ringtype, Perforation 13] (Average-Fine) on 5 March 1883 cover FRONT-ONLY, to Bristol, R.I. Rhode Island, USA, and forwarded to the small town (population in 1883 was about 700 to 800 people) of Sebago, Maine. The letter was addressed to MRS. Ramon Guiteras; her husband was of Spanish-Cuban ancestry. Her son, also named Ramon Guiteras (he never married so we know the letter was not addressed to his wife), was born in Bristol, Rhode Island, and became a famous and extremely important early urologist, and was the "most prominent Rhode Islander of Latin American heritage at the turn of the 20th century". There is an interesting website about Dr. Ramon Guiteras (the son of the addressee). While this is only a cover-front, it is still an important Swedish and Rhode Island postal history item. A "FORWARDED" marking was applied at Bristol, Rhode Island -- likely a fairly scarce marking that would be welcomed in any Rhode Island postal history collection. The Cuban connection and the once-removed urology connection also make this an interesting item for a thematic collection. The Facit Postal X value for this stamp solo used on a (full) cover to the U.S. is SEK 600.
