Colombia Airmail SCADTA "D" Overprints for use on mail from Denmark to Colombia: A "set" of Scott #CLD35-37, 39-45, and CFLD4. This is the complete 1927 set of machine overprinted stamps, EXCEPT missing the regular 20 centavos value, but instead with the 20 centavos R/D registered value. (That is how the "set" came to me. The previous owner had not noticed the difference.) The stamps are all Mint with VF centering, with the USUAL heavily disturbed gum (these were stored and shipped with wax paper between the sheets of stamps). All but two of the stamps some sheet margin attached. If, for consistency of appearance, the purchaser prefers to have the sheet margin removed, I can do that. This is a wonderfully attractive "set" in much nicer overall appearance than is typically encountered. Scott does not mention that gum disturbance is typical, but I have just expressed to them my opinion that this should be mentioned. This unusual type of stamp was made available in 1921-1927 for purchase, for example at Colombian consulates, in the countries of mailing to allow the purchase of postage for airmail service within Colombia once a letter had reached Colombia. This was done to promote foreign business development and investment in Colombia. Different country overprints were applied to reduce the potential of currency speculation resulting from currency exchange rate fluctuations. An outstanding "set"; I believe that this is only the second "D" (Denmark) group that I have been able to offer in 50 years. Scott 2024 Classic value $249 for what is present.
