Faroe: First Day Covers: Private Cachets - Mini Sheets

All post-1974 FDCs are VF and fresh with official cachets. Official FDCs are unaddressed and complete in the form most commonly issued unless otherwise stated. Officially issued FDCs with one stamp per cover can be supplied in some cases if desired; please inquire. Privately cacheted FDCs can be supplied for some issues.

Because officially cacheted FDCs did not cost more than the stamps on them, but private cachet makers had to charge for their envelopes and service, relatively fewer privately cacheted FDCs were made and sold. However, the post office did not offer FDCs bearing full mini sheets -- only a couple private cachet makers did. Because they were costly, due to the cost of the stamps on them, relatively few were made and sold. As FDCs go, these are extremely scarce. Other than the 1979 IYC issue (of which it seems more were made), I have not seen more than one or two of each of these items since their date of issue! So far I have only recorded full mini sheet FDCs for issues in the 1979-1982 period. If you have others, please let me know. If you are seeking such items, please send your want list.
