Greenland: Souvenir Cards: FGB Mindeark - Society for Greenlandic Children Souvenir Cards

The "FGB", Foreningen Grønlandske Børn or Society for Greenlandic Children, in conjunction with Danske Filatelisters Fællesfond, issued mindeark (souvenir cards) starting with #1 in 1973 and ending with #20 in 1993. In January 1974, a second version of #1 was issued, #1A, making a total of 21 cards. Issue quantities are as low as only 5200 cards! The cards were widely distributed, meaning that there are very few dealer stocks of them. For each card, a Greenlandic stamp is affixed and bears a first day cancellation for that stamp. It is important to note that the first day of the cancellation is before, and does NOT coincide with, the issue date of the souvenir card.

Cards #1, #1A, and #2-6 also exist as official reproductions. (Others may exist as well, but I have not seen them.) The appearance of the reproductions is the same as the original cards, but in the upper left margin there is text "Reproduktion" and the stamp and cancel are images printed on the card. The official reproductions seem to be much scarcer than the originals.

To my knowledge, this web page has the most complete information on these cards ever published in any form.

Queen Margrethe Series First Day Souvenir Card Pack 1980-1989 ("Dronning Margrethe Serien Føstedagsmappe 1980-1989") issued by the FGB (Foreningen Grønlandske Børn; Society for Greenlandic Children) in 1989 at the conclusion of issues of this long-running definitive series. Pack containing three interior panels, or souvenir cards, each with first day canceled sets of the seven issues in the series. 8500 packs issued, but very difficult to find now and sought after by Greenlandic, Slania, and Danish Royalty collectors.
