1973 / 1982 Queen Margrethe Souvenir Card 1973 / 1982 issued by the Danish Red Cross (believed to be fundraising for Greenlandic child welfare). GREENLANDIC 10 øre Queen stamp with 16 April 1973 FIRST DAY cancellation and DANISH 1.60 kr red Queen stamp with 14 January 1982 cancellation. Cachet picture of the Queen, her husband, and her two children (one is now the King). The cachet text indicates issued by the Danish Red Cross on the occasion of her 10th anniversary as Queen (14.1.1972 - 14.1.1982), which is also the first day of the Danish stamp. However, what is not explained is the presence of the 1973 FD-canceled Greenlandic stamp and postmark. Either the cards were originally created in 1973 with only the Greenlandic stamp and then the cachet was printed in 1982 (that is planning ahead!!!!) or the Greenland postmark was applied later (possible, but fairly unlikely). Perhaps somebody can solve this puzzle! Now that the Queen has abdicated (14 January 2024), exactly 52 years after taking the throne, there is even greater interest in collecting Margrethe-themed philatelic items. Also, any unusual Greenlandic souvenir cards are always in great demand. As of November 2024, this is the only example of this souvenir card that I have ever had or to which I have seen any reference. [I would like to know more about it and to buy more examples.]

Dr. Ernst Sorge (1930-1931 Wegner Greenland Expedition) COMMEMORATIVE / SOUVENIR CARD issued in East Germany (DDR) with 12 October 1983 DDR commemorative cancellation for Dr. Ernst Sorge. (The DDR Karl Marx Stadt stamp is unrelated to this subject.) Cacheted card showing Dr. Sorge cutting a block of ice for research. While not of Greenlandic origin, items issued by / from other countries that commemorate Greenlandic exploration are very unusual and very sought after. (If any actual 1930-1931 mail from Dr. Sorge actually exists it would be quite rare and valuable.)
ACTUAL item.
