"SVENSKA UNDERBEFÄLETS RIKSFÖRBUND" (Swedish Military Officers Royal Society) and "FÖR VETANDE OCH UPPLYSNING" (for knowledge and understanding). This society seems to be for the training and education of mid-level military officers. I believe this to be a charity seal, perhaps purchased by the membership, but it could also be a label. Yellow frame and some parts of the design, blue center design and text. Yellowish-white paper. Pictures allegorical "lady of knowledge" giving knowledge understanding to a young officer. Tiny "249 in bottom margin; perhaps the 249th design of the printer. Mint F-VF. In 46 years, I have not previously seen an example of this seal and I have not been able to find any reference to it. Based on the appearance, I believe it dates from around 1910. This is the only example I have recorded having in 46 years. ACTUAL item. |
