Collections: World: Topical
I am constantly buying large and small collections and often have a variety of U.S. and Worldwide collections, lots, and accumulations available. If you are considering getting into a new area and would like a "starter collection" (whether small or large), let me know about your interest. Also, if you are seeking used binders or used empty albums to match what you currently have, again, let me know. Here are a few samples of collections. The listings below are included by happenstance. If you are seeking a particular country or type of material, please let me know. Payment plans are available. I guarantee your satisfaction.

Due to the low prices, variations in weight, and different mailing methods, distances, and destinations, shipping cost is additional for items in the Specials Collections listings unless otherwise mentioned. When ordering please include a note in the shopping cart comments section indicating if you prefer faster/costlier or slower/cheaper delivery so that I may more quickly quote the shipping costs and options for you.

Collections and lots are not normally sent on approval. If you have questions about an item, please inquire before ordering. Special return and refund limitations typically apply to such items. Please see the "Order Info" page for details.

Each item is one of a kind; orders will be filled in order of receipt. Payment by MasterCard or Visa suggested, but I will hold items for 10 days pending receipt of check if you prefer.

Elvis Presley 25th Anniversary Edition Souvenir Sheets: Two 2002 Elvis Presley 25th Anniversary Edition souvenir sheets of 9: Antigua #2584 $1 and Maldive Islands #2643 5R., OG, NH VF. Attractive and a highly popular topic!

Dogs Topical Collection -- Great For Dog Lovers : This is an unmounted collection / accumulation of approximately mostly-different 250 worldwide stamps and souvenir sheets picturing DOGS, plus there are many more stamps representing the balance of sets where only one value features a dog. There are also more than 100 covers, mostly cacheted first day covers from many different countries. Mostly 1970s-1980s (and earlier), the stamps are mostly NH in new issue envelopes or on dealers cards, virtually all VF. There is an enormous range of breeds and dog subjects, ranging from show dogs and pets to working dogs such as disability assistance dogs and Laika (the first dog in space). The collector had a special interest in huskies, thus there are many Arctic-theme items picturing dog sled teams. The best item I noticed was a NH Belgium Scott #B605a souvenir sheet (Scott $175). Mostly different, but with some very minor duplication. I did not take the time (so I do not have to charge more) to calculate the catalog value of the collection, but this will be a terrific deal! A wonderful start on this popular topic, or a significant addition to an existing collection!

Millennium Stamps From Around the World [On Covers] Collection: Attractive, green, leather-like binder containing 100 covers bearing 1999-2000 Millennium stamp issue covers. Each with an appropriate cancellation, usually first day, and with an attractive color cachet. Each is accompanied by an information card about the country. This is a very nice presentation as it is. Or the covers could be moved into a larger Millennium collection with stamps and other items. Heck, the high-quality album with the crystal-clear cover pages would fetch at least half the asking price! I do not know the exact price that was charged for these covers, but in my experience, it would have been several dollars per cover, probably at least $300 for all, if not more! Offered for less than 50 cents per cover!

U.S. Bicentennial Covers and Historical Event Covers Lot: A group of about 140 covers, from four different series. Two of the series are U.S. Bicentennial subjects with interesting related cachets. One series is U.S. states, with the cachets consisting of plastic-encased stamps. The final series relates to U.S. historical events, again with plastic encased stamps as the cachet. There are also a few additional related covers. Originally I am sure that these cost a few dollars each, but the entire lot works out to about 21 cents per cover. If nothing else, you can get a terrific deal by taking out the individual items / subjects of interest to you and selling or trading off the rest.

U.S. Philatelic-Numismatic Group of Four Covers: A 1978 Indian Head Penny first day cover and the three different (P, S, D) mint marks of the Susan B. Anthony Dollar coin covers with matching cancellations and cachets for each mint. The coins are in clear plastic holders built into the covers and appear as part of the cachets. The Dollar coins appear to be uncirculated. Each cover is mounted (very easily removed from) a page with interesting text about the coin (and the mint). Fun items. If not your cup of tea, maybe they would make a good gift for that coin collector friend.

Horse Stamps Topical Collection in Horse Stockbook: A handsome modern, brand-new looking stockbook, snake-skin leather appearance with metal clad corners, containing horse topical stamps. There are 20 stock page sides, each with several horse stamps -- I am guessing a total of about 150 stamps. The stamps are all modern "colorful topicals", but really quite pretty. The stockbook itself is gold-foil-embossed "PFERDE", which silly me though was the name of a person -- no, it is the German word for horse. Thus the book was made for the contents. The stamps alone have only a nominal retail value (if in a packet, perhaps $5-10), however, the stockbook would probably be $25 or more on the retail sales shelf. While a collector of classics will not get excited about this, I bet that there are a couple hundred readers of this who have a grandchild who would love them forever if the child got this collection as a holiday gift -- and by the way, they will be wanting a real horse soon too! Maybe this can hold off the real horse for another year or two.

John James Audubon Birds of the World First Day Covers Collection: Attractive gold-imprinted cover album, with crystal-clear pages, containing about 57 1985 first day covers for Audubon bird stamp issues from around the world. Many countries issued beautiful Audubon bird stamps in 1985. The covers have beautiful bird painting cachets (by Fleetwood) and on the backside bear interesting text about the pictured birds. The covers, binder, and pages all look brand new. I can only recall seeing one other example of such a collection, but I do not think it had this many (57) covers. This was a subscription service and I suspect the cost was quite substantial at several dollars per cover. There is not one of these covers that today would individually retail for less than $1, many that would sell for $2-3 each, and a few that would hit $5 or perhaps more. If you are bird lover, you will really enjoy this collection -- and if you are married to a bird lover, as a gift this might get you a few extra points in the "you are a good spouse" column!

History of the United States in Mint Stamps, Souvenir Card Collection: This is a fascinating group of about 207 cover-sized cards. Each card has a color "cachet" on the left half and a mint stamp, in a clear holder, commemorating the subject event or person, on the right half. The backside of each card (both sides are fully visible in the album) bears text about the event or person. The range of subjects covers is, well, the history of the United States. The range of philatelic topics include is huge. For a few examples: The Civil War, WWII, Black Heritage, Railroads, Authors, Artists, Military, Presidents, etc., etc., etc. The cards are contained in 3-high clear pages in a thick binder. The pages and cards are all in excellent quality. However, the binder has suffered contact with some sort of adhesive that made it sticky, etc. It might clean up (or not), but that is for somebody else to deal with -- this is priced for the contents, not the binder! I know that I have clients who would be interested in quite a few of the cards for certain topics, at $3-4 per card! However, I hate to break up the collection and that would take a lot of time. This was a subscription service (the so-called Postmasters of America); I believe that I have seen only one of these books before, but my recollection was that it contained only a couple dozen cards. I suspect that the original cost was a few dollars per card! This is really a fascinating and very visual historical presentation that has a lot of appeal. With about 207 cards, this is priced at far less than 25 cents per card!
