Great Britain / Canada / U.S. Cinderella: 1939 House of Seagram King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Good Will Tour to Canada and the U.S. Four panel folder containing a complete sheet tipped-in (adhered only be the very edge of the top selvedge) sheet of 18 British King and Queen labels. The labels are gummed (never hinged) with F-VF centering; each label bears gray backprint text "Compliments / of / The House / of Seagram". Has a U.S. 1939 (New York) copyright, but seems to have been distributed in the U.S. and Canada. A wonderful Cinderella item with the obvious alcohol topic connection, but the front of the folder also includes topics of: Arctic, tropics, sled dogs, Western wagon train, modern railway locomotive, sailing ships, early settlements, North American Indians, Military officers, settlers, etc. As of 5 November 2022, I have seen individual singles (sometimes without gum) sell for $1-2 each, and I am aware of one complete folder (with labels) that the owner paid about $100 for. I have not noticed any sales of the full sheets from the folder. This seems to be a "scarce" item. ACTUAL item. |
