Jamaica: Scott #647 [1987 5c Manley] (VF) Used -- as intended for the low values -- as a rate-make-up value on a 10 October ca.1987 business-size envelope, also bearing two Scott #636 [1986 25c Flowers], to make the 55c airmail rate to the U.S. The "LIONEL TOWN" postmark does not include a year date (!!!) which is probably typical for that town in that time period, but not generally for Jamaican postmarks -- they probably lost the year date slug! The positioning of the stamp stamps on the cover suggests that a stamp is missing, but under high-power magnification there is no evidence of another stamp having been present. The envelope is genuinely postally used; a SASE to the CA UC-Davis Ag Engineering Department and is from a large correspondence of worldwide covers to the same department, all in this same time period (this was the only Slania Jamaican cover). Jamaican sender address excised from the backside. Even though they were definitive issues that saw a lot of use, the Jamaican Slania stamps are remarkably hard to find on cover even though 37 years have now passed!

Jamaica: Scott #647 [1987 5c Manley] (small defects) Used -- as intended for the low values -- as a rate-make-up value on a 18 January (no year date showing in cancel) ca1988 small-size envelope, also bearing two Scott #676 [1987 25c Flower; Hibiscus Elatus], to make the 55c airmail rate to the U.S. The partial "OR(ANGE BAY)" postmarks appear to not include a year date (!!!) which is probably typical for that town in that time period, but not generally for Jamaican postmarks -- they probably lost the year date slug! The envelope is genuinely postally used; a SAE to a correspondence school. The Jamaican sender address indicates "Portland Bay / ... / Portland". Even though they were definitive issues that saw a lot of use, the Jamaican Slania stamps are remarkably hard to find on cover even though 37 years have now passed!

Jamaica: Scott #647 x2 [1987 5c Manley] (VF) Used -- as intended for the low values -- as a rate-make-up value on a 22 January ca.1988 small-size envelope, also bearing Scott #677 [1987 $4 Hibiscus Cannabinus; scarcer stamp!], to make the $4.10 REGISTERED MAIL rate to the U.S., with neat "MAVIS BANK" postmarks and handwritten "imprint" registry label. The "MAVIS BANK" postmarks do not include a year date (!!!) which is probably typical for that town in that time period, but not generally for Jamaican postmarks -- they probably lost the year date slug! The return address states "Mavis Bank P.O. / St. Andrew". The envelope is genuinely postally used; a SAE to a correspondence school. Even though they were definitive issues that saw a lot of use, the Jamaican Slania stamps are remarkably hard to find on cover even though 37 years have now passed! A very nice cover!

May 1990 tourist picture post card, also bearing Scott #695 [1988 45c Seoul Summer Olympics, Cycling], to make the 55c post card rate to the U.S., with neat NEGRIL postmark. Sent to "DE PERE, WI 54115" with Superb red two-ring receiving cancellation on the picture side. Jamaica: Scott #660 [1987 90c Bustamante] (VF) SOLO USE on 10 April 1991 tourist picture post card TO SWITZERLAND, neat NEGRIL cancellation. Genuinely postally used with a tourist message. Even though they were definitive issues that saw a lot of use, the Jamaican Slania stamps are remarkably hard to find on cover even though 37 years have now passed! This is one of only a couple covers or cards bearing a Jamaican Slania stamp that I have had, since the time of issue, sent to a continental European country. Very nice!
