1.  New 2009 Facit Scandinavian Specialized Catalog Shopping Cart: Review or Check Out   Top

The new annual 2009 Facit Scandinavian Specialized Catalog has arrived. It is in stock, ready to ship to you.

As always, virtually all the text is English (and Swedish). The illustrations are full color throughout. The 928 pages are packed with useful information. In addition to all the usual stamp listings, you will find varieties, printings/colors, booklets, cover pricing, NH pricing for earlier issues, machine stamps (i.e. Framas, etc.), first day covers, some cancellations types, some postal history pricing, etc. This is the Scandinavian specialized catalog!

The countries listed (in order of appearance) are: Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Slesvig, Faroe, Greenland, Danish West Indies, Iceland, Finland, Aunus, Karelia, North Ingermanland, and Åland.

The most significant special features this year are the inclusion of Sweden Revenues and Iceland bridge-type postmarks, along with U.S. and British WWII military mail/postmarks in Iceland (expanded and improved; many years since last listed)

This year, in addition to all the usual listings, the special features include:

Sweden early proofs & essays; early covers rates and destinations pricing and rarity; REVENUES (expanded and improved since 2005 listing).

Norway early ship mail; pre-stamp postmarks; postmarks on Norway #1.

Denmark rarity ranking of 1851-1905 covers to/from other countries; postmarks on #2 (4 RBS).

Danish West Indies pre-stamp mail; postal stationery; postal rates; ship letter stamps (La Guaira, HAPAG, Royal Mail Steamship, etc.).

Iceland early postmarks; crown & posthorn postmarks; numeral postmarks; and again bridge-type postmarks; U.S. and British WWII military mail/postmarks in Iceland (expanded and improved; many years since last listed); revenue stamps (greidslumerki stamps and orlof overprints); postal stationery.

Finland covers 1856-1884 frankings & destinations pricing; pre-stamp postmarks; early (to 1858) postal stationery; early postmarks; Russian stamps & postal stationery used in Finland.

This important catalog is a must-have reference for any collector of one or more of the Scandinavian countries. If you have never had a copy, you owe it to yourself to get one. If you have not had one for several years and have not seen the color illustrations, you must get it.

The 2009 edition (item #1032) is only $69.00. Shipping for book (non-Specials) orders in the U.S. by Media Mail is a flat $3.00 per total order charge. Faster Priority Mail is additional. Shipping to other countries is additional. Please inquire. You can order on-line here.

Note: If you are seeking a less costly reference for only one or two countries, take a look at the pages-only offerings from older editions of the Facit catalog. These are genuine Facit pages, removed from the binding. Only the pages/countries listed are available and many of those are in extremely short supply. Do not delay. Details are here.

Shipping is additional for book orders. In the U.S. shipment by media mail is a flat fee of $3 regardless of the number of books ordered (not including "Specials" offerings). Shipping by Priority Mail is available; cost depends upon weight & distance -- please inquire for costs. We are happy to ship internationally -- please inquire for options and costs to your destination.

Every 5-7 years, the AFA Specialized Catalog is issued -- 2008 is the most recent edition. This catalog is the ultimate for the specialist in Denmark or Danish West Indies (and also with specialized listings for Faroe, Greenland, and Slesvig). This is a must-have catalog for any serious collector of Denmark or DWI who goes beyond the "normal" stamps. It typically sells out years before the next edition (which will probably not be until at least 2013!). Do not delay getting your copy.

We hope to see you soon at...

Chicagopex 2008
November 21-23, 2008
Arlington Heights, IL
Sheraton Chicago Northwest Hotel (Arlington Heights)

This is the Scandinavian Collectors Club 2008 "convention show". Plan to attend for excellent Scandinavian exhibits and fellowship with Scandinavian philatelists. This show will have an emphasis on Scandinavian exhibits and presentations. An exhibition judge will be attending from Scandinavia.

If you collect Scandinavia and live within traveling distance of Chicago (or have travel plans that coincide with these dates) plan to attend. The hotel is located only about 13 miles from O'Hare Airport.

4.  Special Offers: Collections & Albums -- Great Buys Shopping Cart: Review or Check Out   Top

I am constantly buying large and small Scandinavian, U.S., and Worldwide collections. If you are considering getting into a new area and would like a "starter collection" (whether small or large), let me know about your interest. Also, if you are seeking used binders or used empty albums to match what you currently have, again, let me know. In the process of buying Scandinavian collections, many of my long-time clients (or their estates) ask that I assist in selling the non-Scandinavian portion of their collections. If there is something you are looking for, just let me know. Take a look at the current listings on the web site (but if you don't see your interest listed, please inquire -- most have not been listed on the web site yet).

I guarantee your satisfaction. Each item is one of a kind; orders will be filled in order of receipt. Payment by MasterCard or Visa suggested, but I will hold items for 10 days pending receipt of your check or money order if you prefer.

5.  Used and One-of-a-kind Philatelic Literature Shopping Cart: Review or Check Out   Top

Most of these books are one-of-a-kind, thus be sure to order early. This is just a tiny glimpse of the used books available. Please take a look at the complete Literature Specials price list -- it has much more to offer. I welcome your want list for any Scandinavian books you are seeking. "New" books will be in brand-new condition. "Used" books will be used, though in attractive and serviceable condition; these books may contain minor owner's marks and have typical wear, but any significant defects will be noted in the description. Most "used" books are in much better condition than you might think; many are pristine.

For more and the latest listings, see: Scandinavian & Worldwide Literature Specials Table of Contents.
