17 Dark Gray, Facit #12Sf [1875 2 penni 4-Numeral, Perf 11 (this color 1879)] Used with XF centering and neat "grid of dots" cork/carved cancellation. Discoloration on reverse from ancient album mounting; does not affect the front. Interesting plate variety: "White spot to upper left of upper right 2". Though the different colors of this stamp do not list any premium values, in my experience this Dark Gray is least often seen and especially not in such nice quality. Very attractive!

18 [1875 5 penni 4-Numeral, Perf 11] Used with VF-XF centering and boxed "ANK" (Swedish for received or arrival) cancellation. Would be XF or Superb if not for an extremely wide left margin. Oversize stamp all around. Brilliant Yellow-Orange color. Very attractive example!

18 [1875 5 penni 4-Numeral, Perf 11] Bright Yellow-Orange. Used F-VF with neat blue "...URENG..." straight-line railway station cancellation. This general type of cancellation is quite scarce on the 1875 4-Numeral issues and I am not aware of any listing or cataloging of them on the 1875 stamps. I have not been able to identify this one; it is likely a tiny rural station far from any post office. As an added bonus, the top three right-side perf holes are blind (did not get punched out); not often encountered on this stamp. A very unusual example!

18, Facit #13Sf [1875 5 penni 4-Numeral, Perf 11] Brown Orange. Used F-VF (small margins, touches at right) with very neat, blue, corner cancellation. A very attractive example of a distinctive, scarcer color. Facit 2018 value SEK 350.

18a Orange Yellow [1875 5 penni 4-Numeral, Perf 11] Used with F-VF centering and partial 1880 cancellation (which exactly corresponds to the color). Somewhat rough perforations, but that seems to be typical for this printing / color. Though the catalogs usually value the "yellow family" colors about the same as the "orange family" colors of this stamp, in my experience, the yellow colors are scarcer by a factor of about five! A nice example of what seems like it is supposed to be a common color for this stamp, but is actually missing from most collections.

19 Dark Bluish Green on Thin Paper, Facit #14Sc (Bluish) [1875 8 penni 4-Numeral, Perf 11] Used with VF centering and neat town (partial ABO 2-ring) cancellation. The color difference is subtle, but this is the Dark Bluish Green. The paper is always thin on this color, but this example is unusually bright white. An excellent, attractive example.

19 Yellow Green, Facit #14Sb [1875 8 penni 4-Numeral, Perf 11] Mint with F-VF centering, but very heavily hinged, small thin spot, couple discolored spots, and one perf slightly shorter. Despite the problems, it is an attractive example of a scarce stamp (2020 Facit SEK 2000 = $240 3/2021) that is seldom offered either Mint or Used. Great color and sharp printing impression. If not for the problems this would easily fetch $210!

19a Dark Yellow Green "Moss Green" (Facit #14Sbb) [1875 8 penni 4-Numeral, Perf 11] Mint, disturbed original gum, VF centering, but with small thin spot. Wonderful, rich color. This is the scarcest of the 8 penni colors -- actually much scarcer in Mint condition than the catalog value suggests. Mint examples are seldom offered; when they are offered, they usually have a small defect such as this example. A handsome example! (Facit 2022 value SEK 3000 = US$370 [12/2021].)

19 Light Bluish Green, Facit #14Sa [1875 8 penni 4-Numeral, Perf 11] Used with VF centering and a blue, faint, 1875 town cancellation. There is small discolored spot, but most people would not notice it. This is the earliest printing of the 8 penni stamps and is always on thin paper, thus it is often damaged. A unusually well centered and attractive example, but at a very reasonable price. This centering would otherwise be $75!

21b Dark Prussian Blue (Facit #16SC1a) [1875 20 penni 4-Numeral, Perf 11] The Prussian Blue printing, the first printing of the 20 penni, exists in a range of color intensity. The handbook on the 1875 issues (by Heikki Reinikainen, Jussi Murtosaari, and Jeffrey Stone) supplies a color intensity range for stamps of this printing of "3-7" on a 1-10 scale. This example is at or very near the most intense / darkest end of that range. Such examples are quite hard to find. Used F-VF+ with a light, but readable railway (train 11) cancellation clearly dated 17 December 1875 dated . Very attractive; a great example of this color, with a confirming early postmark and in overall excellent quality.

21b Light Prussian Blue (Facit #16SC1a) [1875 20 penni 4-Numeral, Perf 11] The Prussian Blue printing, the first printing of the 20 penni, exists in a range of color intensity. The handbook on the 1875 issues (by Heikki Reinikainen, Jussi Murtosaari, and Jeffrey Stone) supplies a color intensity range for stamps of this printing of "3-7" on a 1-10 scale. This example is at or very near the least intense / lightest end of that range and are sometimes confused for later printings. Such examples are quite hard to find. Used F-VF with a partial WIB(ORG) [Lost Territories] arc-style cancellation dated 6 November; the year date is not visible, but virtually all examples of the first printing were used by the end of 1875. Very attractive; a great example of this color.

23 "Light" Carmine [1875 32 penni 4-Numeral, Perf 11] This example is either the very scarce Light Carmine "c" color or the Light Reddish Carmine "e" color (Facit 18Sc or 18Se). The c and e designations are used by most or all specialized catalogs following the modern standards for the 1875 issue. (This is not the Rose color.) The "c" color is the rarest of all the colors of this stamp; the "c" color is valued at five times the "e" color. Based on the color digital images in the 1875 book by Heikki Reinikainen, Jussi Murtosaari, and Jeffrey Stone, I believe it to be the very scarce "c" color, but I do not have adequate reference examples to prove it. While the cancellation is a scarcer type on this stamp, the lack of cancellation date does not help with the color / printing identification. Used with F-VF+ centering and a scarce, neat, 95% complete (but inverted), "FR.KO" [paid] boxed with angled corners cancellation. Very attractive and likely very scarce. Priced with a premium for the cancellation, but not at the value of the "c" color.

(23) [(1875) 32 penni 4-Numeral] Perforation 12.5 Official Reprint with boxed 23 x 8 mm black "SPECIMEN" overprint by metal handstamp (diagonal lower left to upper right, reading up from right). Mint with VF centering and full original gum. Extremely scarce. Both 500 unoverprinted and 500 specimen-overprinted reprints (supplies of the original stamps were exhausted) were ordered in 1892; the specimens were sent to the Russian postal administration for onward distribution. They were likely largely distributed via the UPU to other UPU member countries and thus most are still in postal archives and museums; the few examples available to collectors have likely been "liberated" one way or another. Examples are seldom seen and are grossly undervalued in the market, largely due to never having been properly listed in the specialized catalogs.

24 Lilac [1877 1 mark 4-Numerals, Perf 11, 1881 Lilac Printing (Facit #19SC1b)] Used with VF centering and just the very edge of a rectangular cancellation. While the cancellation could be a boxed town cancel, it is more likely a "WARDE" [insured] cancellation that was only used on insured mail -- a type of mail on which this stamp was often used. The lower left corner perforation tooth has been creased; I mention this only for absolute completeness, but it will take a strong magnifying glass to see that. A superlative example of a stamp that is quite hard to find in undamaged quality -- and one that is rarely found with such nice appearance!
