7 [1863 3 skilling Lion] Used Fine centered example with light thin and a couple tiny pinholes. This example has very strong color and is a very clear print. Neat postmark. An inexpensive example of a stamp missing from most collections; often the last stamp needed to complete a Norway collection.

17a PRUSSIAN BLUE color [1871 2 Skilling Posthorn]. Accompanied by an Enger certificate stating that the stamp is the Pale Greenish Blue shade mentioned below NK #17b as footnote and that the stamp is "almost as rare" as the Deep Prussian Blue. Facit (#17b) does not distinguish between the pale and deep colors and the NK "hair splitting" does not do justice to this rare stamp. Used with F-VF+ centering and a full (almost perfect) bypost cancellation. The upper right corner perforation is rounded (because of which Enger stated that the stamp was defective -- but this is the only problem and it is fairly typical of stamps of the Skilling Posthorn issues). This is an EXTREMELY RARE STAMP. This is the first time in 31 years that I have been able to offer this stamp! The corner perforation does certainly affect the value, however, not as greatly as one might think. This stamp is listed by Scott at $3500. Facit 2006 lists it as SEK 40,000 or about $5400. Of course, this stamp is missing from virtually all collections. This is an outstanding opportunity to obtain a stamp of which very few collectors have ever even seen a picture.

17 [1872 2 skilling Posthorn, Ultramarine (1873)] Mint with Superb centering (extremely scarce for this stamp). While this stamp appears to have a small hinge mark, it came from a larger block and I believe it is actually NH, but based on the appearance, it is "safer" to price it as hinged (otherwise $80 for this quality).

17 [1872 2 skilling Posthorn, Ultramarine (1873)] NEVER HINGED upper right corner margin 4-block with VF/VF+ centering (scarce for this stamp). Offered at the break-up value of 4 singles!
19, Facit 19ab [1872 4 skilling Posthorn, Dull Violet on Thin Grayish White Paper (1872)] Used Fine+ example with 3 December 1872 or 1873 TÖNSBERG (Tønsberg) cancellation; used in the proper period. This is the scarcest of the Facit listed colors: SEK 2000 = $280; it is very difficult to find in sound condition. Attractive, with strong color.

38 20 mm Frame (Facit #51BIIIaa) The scarce Lemon Yellow color (this color should have a greenish tinge; those I see offered on the market are often misidentified). Used Superb with excellent color and neat, fully dated 29 November 1889 cancellation. Extremely scarce in such nice quality.

38 20 mm Frame (Facit #51BIIIaa) The scarce Lemon Yellow color (this color should have a greenish tinge; those I see offered on the market are often misidentified). Used F-VF+ with excellent color and neat, fully dated 13 May 1889 cancellation. Very unusual in such nice quality. This example is very early use for the Lemon Yellow color; the first stamps of Plate III are 1 April!
46a, Facit #47a var, NK #48Iv1 [1888 2 Øre overprint on 12 øre, Grayish Brown] Mint with F-VF centering, but small thin spot. Major NK-listed plate variety on the underlying stamp: right inner line of posthorn missing (to right of large 12). Though this has a modest catalog value, I cannot remember the last time I saw an example offered.
85 4-block from booklet [1910 20 øre Blue Posthorn] consisting of Facit #111BB and DD pairs, valued (2005) at SEK 1000 and 2000 respectively (equals total $420). This block comes from a booklet that got watersoaked; the gum soaked into the paper, causing a stained appearance. Otherwise the stamps are undamaged. (Considering that the booklet that these came from has a 2005 Facit catalog value of SEK 25,000, this is a heartbreaking situation.) Despite the quality issues, this is still a very scarce block or two pairs.

190 and 192 Gutter Pairs [1940 5 øre Posthorn and 10 øre Lion]. From special sheets printed to make booklet panes. Though they have a low catalog value, they are seldom offered and are hard to obtain. NH VF.

207 [1941 1 øre V-Overprint with watermark] LOW OVERPRINT variety NH VF single. The bottom of the V touches the bottom frame line of the stamp. Such shifts are seldom seen.
J2 Central Printing, Facit L3C [1893 4 øre Bluish Violet Postage Due, Central Printing] Mint VF 4-block with very nice centering for this issue. Usual natural gum bends found on this issue. Bright color and very fresh. The singles would fetch about $55 each!
